19 DOURO ROAD – LIVING GREEN IN SOUTH FREMANTLE

One of Western Australia’s most environmentally friendly mixed-use developments has opened in South Fremantle, located just minutes from South Beach and Fremantle’s popular cappuccino strip.

19 Douro Road is a three-storey development built by BGC Construction, including 20 one and two-bedroom apartments and five commercial suites. The modern, industrial warehouse-inspired design includes multiple ‘green’ initiatives to improve the sustainability of the building, which has a 4-Star Green Star energy rating and a score of up to 8.8 stars on the NatHERS Energy Rating System.

Innovative features include the use of solar power and energy-efficient fixtures, a car-stacker to make smart use of garage space, smart meters to allow residents to track their energy usage online and the use of recycled red brick and green walls on the building’s exterior.
